One of the mysteries of the Ryukyu Kingdom era
is the Gosamaru-Amawari Rebellion, which is said to have occurred on the night of the harvest moon.
We have teamed up with the Nakagusuku Village Tourism Association to create a collaborative samurai seal!
When the Gosamaru and Amawari versions are combined, the composition appears as if the two men are facing each other and glaring at each other. With an old Ryukyu map showing the relative positions of Nakagusuku Gusuku and Katsuren Gusuku in the background, Amawari, who is said to have hoisted the government army flag and invaded Nakagusuku Gusuku on the evening of the mid-autumn festival, is holding a drawn sword, while Gosamaru, whose sword remains in its sheath, greets him, saying that he cannot defy the king. This
design expresses the relationship between the two men during the Gosamaru-Amawari Rebellion.
The attire of Gosamaru and Amawari is based on Japanese-style armor and helmets, based on the fact that parts of Japanese-style armor and helmets have been excavated from Nakagusuku and Katsurengusuku, and on the historical research of experts. It is also said that the decorative part in the center of the helmet is a unique arrangement of the Ryukyus.
By the way... each of the excavated items can be seen at the Gosamaru Historical Materials Library and Amawari Park.
